Gedling Town v Meir KA

Tuesday 4th September -- F.A. Cup replay !!

Now I know I said that cup replays should be avoided at all costs.... but Gedling have been doing so well it seemed a shame not to visit Stoke Bardolph again.

Last Tuesday I was unable to get to Gedling v Rossington Main - Kev went and saw Gedling romp home 10-0 -- although we were not expecting the same scoreline, it was hoped that we would see a few goals.

With an impressive back line that includes former Eastwood Town players James Whitehead, Lee Soar and Matt Millns, and a forward line of prolific Phil Massingham and free-scoring Alan Jeffries, Town look a very stable settled outfit this season.
Two minutes from kick off, Jeffries capitalised on a goalkeeper error to slot home and give Town the lead. Half an hour later, Jeffries added his second - Gedling's keeper launched a long punt upfield, Jeffries latched on to it and fired home from 18 yards. H-T 2-0
Ben Cobley increased the lead on the hour, a neat shot curling over the keeper in to the top corner. It was 4-0 with just a couple of minutes to go, former Eastwood striker Nick Kennerdale nodding home Heath's corner from close range. Right on full time, Carl Westcarr tapped home the fifth after Whitehead's corner had cannoned off the post causing all sorts of mayhem in the 6 yard box.
F-T 5-0

The Gedling team looked very impressive, the passing and general play was superb - a team on the up?,,, watch this space...

Saturday 8th September -- could be another trip to Gedling Town or another visit to Rainworth -- the only other local game is Long Eaton United v Selby....you never know...............
